Birthday Party Weekend

Today was one of the best birthdays I have had. I guess that may seem strange given all that we are going through. But Leslie really made the weekend a special one for me, and we all enjoyed making some good memories together.

Saturday we spent the day getting some work done around the house, then I took the kids to get haircuts. We got home and I ran everyone through showers before some friends came over for a birthday party. Paul & Cindy along with Andy & Kellie and their four girls came over for taco salad and an evening of Wii games. We guys finally got the kids distracted and enjoyed a round of golf. Paul showed us out shooting an amazing game for his first time on Wii golf. We really had a great time. Leslie gave me a Wii Zapper, a new Wii game, and Carrie Underwood's newest CD. McGrooter was so excited about the Zapper that I had to remind him it was my present!

Today we got up early to go to church to meet with the elders in order to join Westminster PCA. We were warmly received and then after church enjoyed lunch to support the youth mission trip to Peru. After some rest this afternoon, we went to Outback with Leslie's family to continue the birthday festivities. We had another great time together, and then all came home ready for bed! But our evening wasn't complete. McGrooter's loose tooth finally gave way to Leslie's pulling and his continual wiggling of it all weekend. McGrooter proudly called the grandparents to proclaim the victory! Here he excitedly shows us the tooth. I can't believe how fast my boy is growing up!

I also received a birthday greeting from my sister with a picture of her and Bennett after they ran a 5k together today. The billboard in the background shows Jenny along with other healthcare folks advertising the race. Finally, I also received the following goofy video from my brother, sister-in-law, and nephew, Zack. He'll probably kill me for putting it on here, but I got a kick out of it so I had to!

  1. what did they record that with? one day he's going to be bigger than you and he WILL take custody of said video. :) I can't wait to see it happen.
You also forgot to mention about me beating your socks off in that one Wii game. I understand your embarassment and all... but give credit where it's due! One day I'm going to grow up and be a professional Wii champion. Oh, can I come over again soon?
